During that term,
he implemented and administered a planning program for the
County of Grey and the twenty-six member Municipalities. This
involved liaising with Provincial Agencies, the County Council,
private agencies and the general public.
In 1989 Mr. Slade left his position as Director of Grey County
and became Vice-President for The Heritage Group, a land development
company which was actively involved in many resort development
projects in the Township of Collingwood and numerous commercial
developments throughout Southern Ontario. In his capacity
as Vice-President, Mr. Slade was intricately involved in all
aspects of the land development process, from reviewing and
making recommendations for prospective development proposals,
acquiring planning, municipal, and government approvals, to
the planning design layouts for future developments.
In March of 1991, Mr. Slade combined his experience from
both the private and public sector, and formed his own planning
and development company; D.C. Slade Consultants Inc.
Since it's incorporation, D.C. Slade Consultants Inc. have
delved into many diverse projects, which include both urban
and rural subdivisions, resort developments, condominium and
site plan approvals, an Official Plan Study for the Township
of Glenelg, consent applications, official plan and zoning
by-law amendments, representation at Ontario Municipal Board
Hearings, and general planning and development services.
The future of any proposed land development depends on the
approval process of the provincial and local agencies. Having
been involved with actual production and implementation of
official plans and zoning by-laws, Mr. Slade has gained the
expertise to interpret the goals and objectives of a diverse
client group. This has enabled him to present development
proposals to the respective agencies with the knowledge that
will provide the client with an expedient and successful approval
process.
His specialization and thorough knowledge of official plans
and zoning by-laws has enabled him to be successful when representing
clients that have been referred to the Ontario Municipal Board.
Many projects require an interdisciplinary approach with
expertise from many professions. Often the firm is part of
a larger team network. At other times a project management
role is assumed providing direction to the sub-consultants.
In these situations the firm has extensive experience as both
team managers and team participants.
D.C. Slade Consultants Inc. provides a dedicated approach
to the task at hand, and achieve the desired results in a
proficient and cost effective manner. D.C. Slade Consultants
Inc. are dedicated to provide planning and development services
that will benefit the client and positively influence our
environment.
